Taffy began his foray into square dancing in 1988 with the Colonials Square Dance Club run by Keith; but by 1989 he had decided to try his hand (or, rather, his voice) at calling. Trained superbly by Keith, he won the 1989 Dianella Rangers Amateur Callers competition. In 1990 he followed Keith to Byford when Keith started the Ups 'n' Downers Club and became a regular caller during the years, as well as being responsible for running the club whenever Keith was away with his work. In 2001 when Keith was transferred to Halls Creek, Taffy took over the running of the club on a full time basis. ![]()
